[PHP-INSTALL] php 5.3.8 on Solaris 10, pear downloads but will not install

I have the necessary libraries for and have compiled php 5.3.8 without error on solaris 10.

PHP installs and seems to function, but I cannot install pear modules. Pear will download packages, but not install (see below). How can I determine what is wrong with my compile?
